Transitions ...

Change ... the one constant in life, the one thing you can count on.  Change is something we enjoy...and this one is particularly awesome!

Niels and I happily find ourselves in the midst of several life-changing transitions right now, all self-imposed and all amazing. How did we get so lucky? Last year Heather announced that she and Loren were planning on having a child...that one amazing statement rocked our world. For months Heather had been encouraging us to apply for a New Zealand residency visa since they had been residents long enough to sponsor us. For years we had talked about the idea of a multi-generational extended living situation, of forming what we jokingly called "the compound". When Heather spoke about their child being raised with grandparents present and actively involved in their child's life, meaning an extended living situation, our hearts soared...and we started putting things into motion. In October 2011 Heather announced that she was indeed pregnant!  We can't quit smiling! Since then we have applied for a residency visa, put our house up for sale, applied for a 3 year multiple-entry visa and bought a home together in New Zealand. More complex than it sounds. The main thing is that we are here in New Zealand now with Heather and she is due to give birth at any time!  Stay tuned ...
